Sony Ericsson has just put out a statement regarding O2′s aggressive criticism and delay of its Xperia PLAY Android phone, with the hardware maker stating that the April 1st launch date is going ahead as planned on all other networks.
It’s just O2 that has a weird issue with some unmentioned element. Here’s the statement from SE:
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be launching on 1st April across all UK mobile operator partners except for O2, who have decided to prolong the testing period in order to ensure that the software meets the requirements of its procedures.
Sony Ericsson will be working with O2 over the next couple of weeks to expedite the process and ensure that O2 customers can soon join consumers across the UK in being able to enjoy the world’s first PlayStation certified smartphone
So if you’ve pre-ordered elsewhere, your Xperia PLAY ought to arrive on time. Although O2 has now introduced a few doubts into our minds. Quote via Eurogamer.
