Android Market Web Store now LIVE

The future is NOW. Google has just flipped the switch on its new Android Market web store, letting users login, browse apps, buy apps and manage their settings and important phone stuff via the web.

We are signing in in AWE at this very minute:

android market web store launched 1

android market web store launched 2

Head to http://market.android.com/ as QUICKLY AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE to try out Android’s new online store. I’m currently getting an “invalid” error when trying to sign in, so it’s perhaps not quite open for business.

UPDATE:
Following a few sign-in issues at launch, the site is now pretty much fully operational bar the odd server error.

That’s me and my phones. This is literally the most exciting day of the millennium so far.

  7. I can get to the site etc, no problem.

But I can’t get it to install anything on my phone!
So, according to this site, I now have a few free apps “installed” on my phone, but nothing was pushed to it.

    Back to AppBrain for now…

    • Ensure that you have GTalk running on your phone. It seems to use this to start the download

Good start but it chooses a language based on your IP and can’t change it. Very stupid.

Can log in but when I try and push an app it starts the download then just disappears…

Running VillainRom 12 on HTC Hero – wonder if it only works on official roms?

Works a treat and handles multiple Android devices logged in to the same account perfectly. It is a much more comfortable way to pop apps on to the Android device – I’ll probably not use Market on the mobile unless I’m away from my Mac+Browser.

  11. Works great. So much easier to browse from the PC and then push the apps to your phone. This is a neat solution. You need to have GTalk running on your phone so that it can download the apps. Be warned that it would not log me out of the website so make sure you are not using a public PC.

Do you? I’ve never used GTalk. Can’t believe it doesn’t cost 20p a time, either!
