Report: Android 2.2 update coming for Samsung's i5800 Galaxy Apollo

The slightly crazed Twitter feed of Samsung Firmware is claiming that an official Android 2.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Apollo will appear soon, with a European launch set to start in certain regions over the next month.

The Samsung Firmware people claim an Android 2.2 update for the Apollo will appear via KIES in “one month” – but it plans to have an unofficial leaked version ready for download and direct installation by owners this evening.

The visual proof:

samsung galaxy apollo android 22 update

The Galaxy Apollo’s a nice little Android phone, with a top-quality 3.2″ capacitive touchscreen and Samsung’s standard implementation of DivX and Xvid codecs for good media support. We liked it very much. One running Android 2.2 would be superb.

Now THIS is good news! Can’t wait for it (but prefer to get it through KIES!) Hope the phone gets snappier. Also the other good news is SD storage for apps if I’m not mistaking? Getting tired of memory full for messages…

Mid-June and still nothing. A little more patience required it seems. Terrible support from Samsung though – expected better.

  6. June 26th 2011 Now and still no update yet in UK.
Last time I buy sammy product, waste of time, even when you ring customer services, they ain’t got a clue, just useless.

Agree with others. i5800 Apollo will be my first and only Samsung phone. Terrible support from Samsung and no sign of an update. Kies is shockingly bad anyway so even if an update comes through it I’m not that confident. Add to that the awful customer support then it doesn’t add up to much. Oh dear Samsung.

This is Sony’s latest go at producing a high-spec Android flagship model, with the Xperia Z2 ticking every one of 2014’s must-have tech bullet points. It has a large 5.2-inch 1080p display. It has the hot new Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset inside. It has a massive 3GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. It’s […]

Nexus 5It’s smooth to use, the 1080p display is sharp, clear and bright, the device is extremely light and thin and therefore very pocketable and portable — much more so than other 5-inch phones we’ve used. And yet… we’re a bit unimpressed by the overall package…
