A survey of mobile app users compiled by Pontiflex and Harris Interactive has come to the unsurprising conclusion that nearly half of all ad clicks generated by mobile app users are… accidents.
47% of all the 4000 users surveyed admitted their ad clicks were mistakes, with that rising to 61% of users in the key 18-34 demographic.
Which is pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain, and only serves to highlight the fact that the pay-per-click advert ecosystem is indeed based on (a) accidental presses and (b) people who don’t know any better. Link via PaidContent.

/ January 27, 2011Yes on Angry Birds they actually moved the ads to the bit where you often press to explode/accelerate/spin a bird, so I probably pressed the adverts something like fifty times while playing it. None of these presses were intended.
I soon realised why they didn’t want to move away from the ad-supported model.
