We have some good news for HTC Wildfire owners today, courtesy of an update on the Android 2.2 situation from HTC. The hardware maker has said that the FroYo update for its Wildfire will begin to arrive this week, and European Wildfire owners are first in line for the upgrade.
Here’s the full quote from HTC on the matter:
We know many of you have been asking for information about an update for your Wildfire. Well, we have good news! Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) on Wildfire is scheduled to begin rolling out this week in Europe, reaching all areas of the world by February. Thanks for your patience as these updates roll out; we think you’ll enjoy the final product.
Look at all these happy, smiling faces:
Stay alert, Wildfire owners. Excitement about to land. A couple of commenters on the Facebook thread based in Lithuania and Poland are claiming the update is hitting their phones already, and we’ve just been tweeted by a user in Ireland who has a 2.2 Wildfire.

/ December 20, 2010Hello,
The update came, and installed itself quite easily, but starting the phone for the first time after update took 30 minutes. I had to restart it about five times, take the battery out, and when it finally started, the phone application crashed few times.
Now I got it to work, but I’m not going to turn off the phone unless there comes a really good reason to do it (I’m just too scared to do so) :)
There’s few nice new features :) (at least I haven’t seen them before)

My wildfire is now on froyo.
I’m very happy.
I’ve noticed a flash button for video recording too.
Which I think is new.
Also I can finally store apps to SD.
Thank you HTC.
BTW I’m in the UK .
