All of our iPhone-owning, former video game industry work colleagues were going absolutely MAD FOR Game Dev Story a few months ago, so here’s a quick run through of what it actually looks like now the game has launched on Android.
We’re running Game Dev Story on the in-house Android 2.2 HTC Desire, which manages the thing perfectly. No glitches spotted so far.
And away we go. We’ll be aiming to create amazingly cheap. low quality products and sell them for lots of money to idiots, seeing as that’s how the actual games industry of today seems to operate.
Game Dev Story is basically an asset management game with silly music, only massively simplified so it works on a touchscreen – and you can plough through the year-long development cycle of a “product” in about ten minutes. And save your progress at any time.
Don’t worry about quality, team! Just get it out the door.
You can use your in-house team (cheap) or outsource things to professionals (expensive). Then advertise it. Or not.
So that’s over nine months of game development compressed into about ten minutes of actual real world time. It’s a very simple game.
So there you go. If, like me, you were jealous of all the fun iPhone game fans were having with Game Dev Story a couple of months ago, rest assured that the Android version is every bit as functional.
HTC’s 4.3″ dual-core Android model, powered by Qualcomm’s all-new S4 processor. It’s smaller than the enormous One X, but is it as nice as its bigger brother? (SPOILER: Yes it is).
HTC is very much B-A-C-K at the top of the Android world with this, its quad-core flagship for 2012. Great camera, huge 4.7″ display and Android 4.0 running beautifully well.
Sony returns with an all-new mobile design for 2012, pairing a dual-core processor with a 720p display. It’s a lovely phone, but is it enough to end our Samsung and HTC obsession?
LG’s updated Prada phone comes with an absolutely crazy black & white theme, but is it just for fashionable suit wearers who want to make themselves look a bit more interesting?
