Google confirms Nexus S – Android 2.3, 4" Contour Display, 1GHz processor and 16GB internal memory

It’s official. Google has resurrected its own-brand Android phone dream with the announcement of the Google Nexus S – powered by the latest Android OS. The Nexus S will launch with Android 2.3 onboard, with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor inside.

Google’s set up an official site for the Nexus S, full of all the tech specs of the Samsung-made Android phone. And here it is, in our first non-blurry, non-leaked ACTUAL IMAGE:

Here’s a video explaining the Nexus S/Gingerbread dream:

And as if to justify its decision to make another Nexus-branded phone, Google’s even put together a little video explaining how the Nexus S came to be…

And we were just thinking what a terribly poor day it was for Android news, too.

I remember when the galaxy S phones were being released and I defended Samsung saying that they had learned their lesson. All this gingerbread news is just making me and I’m sure other galaxy S users depressed/pissed. I’m never buying a Samsung phone again.
