That Christmas deals thing Gameloft is running has DELIVERED THE GOODS today, with the game publisher deciding to give away a copy of its Dungeon Hunter HD Android game to anyone that wants it.
With this being an “HD” reworking, the handsets included in the promotion are rather limited – you’ll need something with a decent processor and high-res screen.
Also, it’s not found on the Android Market – it’s a direct download to your phone via Gameloft’s site. Get the full list of included phones and do everything you need to make it work over on the game’s listing page.

/ December 3, 2010OK I chose my phone from the list (Desire Z), got a text, clicked on the link and it says: “Sorry, but there are no available game for your mobile. If you are using a web browser, please try to connect with your wap browser.”. Any clue?
Chris
/ December 3, 2010Same here. If this is what I can expect from Gameloft in general they won’t be getting any purchases from me.
MB
/ December 3, 2010Same for me.
Gary C
/ December 3, 2010They’ve put up a tweet saying they’re extending the scheme because of the troubles. They know their system is a bag o’ shite.
Simon
/ December 3, 2010Same problem here. This is exactly why Gameloft need to be using the Android Market!
Jeff
/ December 3, 2010HTC Desire – I successfully downloaded it over WiFi.
I DID have to change my browser settings to enable the “mobile view”
As soon as I did this it recognised my phone and gave me the download.
What I don’t like is the permissions it wants…:
* Edit, Read and/or receive SMS/MMS
* Full Internet access
* Modify SD Card contents
* SEND SMS MESSAGES?? (Why does a game need this!?)
* read phone state and identy
* Change network conectivity, change WiFi State, prevent phone from sleeping.
A little OTT for a game no?
I have downloaded but not sure if I will install TBH.

Oli
/ December 3, 2010Yeah, the permissions are questionable…I understand the need for 4 of them but edit, read, send and receive SMS/MMS??
I don’t see how that is needed
Gary C
/ December 3, 2010Worked on my Desire pretty seamlessly, although the file name had “Motorola Milestone” in it – and when you launch it for the first time it asks you to download 241MB of data before playing the game!
No thanks.
Lars
/ December 3, 2010Why not? Those MB are stored on your SD card. Most major games require additional data, since they’re so graphically advanced. You’re missing out :)

/ December 3, 2010No such luck on the ZTE Blade, I’m going to try fake it in the build.prop, see what happens.
clawster
/ December 3, 2010why no concern about the overreaching app permissions?
PK
/ December 3, 2010True, it even says in the text that message rates may apply. I guess I’ll pass until this company becomes, sort of, normal.
PK
/ December 3, 2010Has anybody had any luck on Desire Z/HD? I’ve tried enabling and disabling mobile view and I do get different websites but I still don’t seem to be able to download anything.

/ December 3, 2010Just got it working on my ZTE Blade.
If you want to get it to work, just change your build.prop so it reads like this.
ro.product.model=HTC Desire
ro.product.brand=htc_wwe
ro.product.name=htc_bravo
ro.product.device=bravo
ro.product.board=bravo
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
and order the desire version.
si
/ December 3, 2010Hmm I click Desire/bravo and get sent to £5 buy option.. not freebie..
si
/ December 3, 2010ahhh, change browser on phone to “mobile view” got freebiee. Happy days :D
si
/ December 3, 2010How did you do it? it didnt work for me
Oli
/ December 3, 2010I got it to work on my Desire Z. What I did was:
- Visited http://www.gameloft.com/free-hd-game on my phone
- Clicked/tapped on “Your Model: HTC Desire Z”
- Chose “HTC” as manufacturer
- Chose “HTC Desire/Bravo” (choosing Nexus One worked as well)
- Tapped “Free Download”
The .apk was downloaded and installed and works beautifully :D
I’m guessing choosing other makes/models would work as well
Hope it work for you :D

/ December 9, 2010I get the same as people above me. It wont download, not even an option. I have to pay 5 dollar.
