Looks like the Android tablet manufacturers of the world are vastly underestimating the pent-up demand for a good Android tablet, as there’s been another run on another tablet supplier.
Archos, which has a range of Android tablets on the way, has put its 101 Internet Tablet up for sale direct through its site – only to sell out already. Worse still, it says stocks of the Android 2.1 powered tablet won’t be replenished until the “second half of December” which puts it perilously out of safe Christmas present range.
Archos is also out of Archos 70 stock – although Dixons is happy to take your money for the smaller 7″ Android tablet at time of writing. Here are the tech specs of the ARM Cortex-powered Archos 101, if you’re an enthusiast on the hunt for your next toy and are the patient type. You might have to click on it to read it unless you’ve got good eyes:
Oh, and the smallprint beneath this on the spec sheet PDF says the Archos 101 launches with Android 2.1 onboard, but that 2.2 will be pushed to the device “when available”.
