There’s some good news and bad news for owners of the new, sturdy and rather affordable Motorola DEFY – Motorola has confirmed it’ll release Android 2.2 for the phone in the EMEA* region next year. The slightly disappointing news is how long it’s going to take, with Motorola saying its Android 2.2 DEFY update won’t arrive until the “second quarter” of next year.
Also, the XT720 will now be staying on Android 2.1. Here’s the emotional rollercoaster of an announcement:
Today we can confirm that in EMEA we plan to upgrade Motorola DEFY to Android 2.2 (FroYo) in the second quarter of next year and that Milestone XT720 will remain on Android 2.1. Anyone looking for information about this and updates for other
regions should go to our forum.
Motorola needs to hire a few more programmers and testers, basically.
Nice looking phone, though. Anyone used one?
