BLOOD ON THE STREETS! The latest brutal offensive in the battle for YOUR MONEY has been staged by omnipresent retailer Amazon UK, with the online shop hacking another £70 off its price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab – now selling it for £529 and matching Carphone Warehouse’s asking price.
Only a few weeks ago Amazon was proud to be charging £599 for the exciting 7″ Android tablet. Who knows what next week will bring?
Squeeze those margins, people. We might be tempted when we see a price starting with a 4, and we might ask for one for Christmas if you can get it down to a 3.

/ October 20, 2010How much do you think a sim-free (unsubsidised) smartphone costs exactly? £500 if fine for this device. I’m getting one. Roll-on Nov.

/ October 20, 2010reasonable_expectations: I think the Orange San Francisco costs 99 quid. So I’d pay 150 for this keyboardless netbook and no more, because I’m not a mug.

/ October 20, 2010The hardware specs of the SanFran are nowhere near as good as the Galaxy Tab. You also pay indirect by having to put up with all the Orange bloatware. I was always under the impression that the screen is one of the most expensive components, thats why a lot of the cheaper tablets use resistive rather than capacitive screens. That aside the Orange SanFran, if it can be rooted, is very good value. Still waiting to see how the Advent Vega performs though.

/ October 20, 2010I’m going to agree that £500 is about what I expected this to be around. Considering that the unsubsidised price of the Galaxy S is about £400, you’re getting bigger and better hardware here, so another £100, whilst steep, is logical.
