Crikey, this is sweet. It’s not often you see something from the mighty HTC brand languishing this near the entry level price range, but that’s what Vodafone’s doing at the moment – selling the HTC Wildfire for £140.
It comes with Vodafone’s “Simply” pay as you go SIM card, which charges you 10p for text messages and a flat 20p per minute for calls. Mobile internet access will cost you 50p per day.
There isn’t even a mandatory SIM card top-up purchase with this, so £140 it is. Thanks to reader Chris for the tip.

/ October 2, 2010As a theoretical, could I buy this, shove in a contract SIM and be away with my contract? Upgrade from my current type-thing?

/ October 2, 2010Yep. It may be locked to Vodafone, but I’m pretty sure Vodafone has been making a thing about not locking its smartphones to the network. Best check that before buying. If you have a Vodafone contract, you’ll be fine either way.
