Google’s sparse but effective Android Gmail app has been upgraded to v2.3 today, bringing a few new little user interface tweaks to the mobile mail reader.
Of most note is the little icon bar that sits to the top-right of each email, which lets you easily star and reply to messages, with a quick press bringing up an extra mini menu that lets you reply, reply to all or forward the message. Plus, if your account has been activated with Google’s new Priority Inbox feature, you’ll get that too.
It’s not a massive changelist, to be honest, but a welcome little refresh. The new iteration of the app also seems to have been “busted out” into a standalone Android Market application, so it requires separate installation from the Market. A search for “Gmail” will bring up the latest version.
UPDATE:
Google’s just put out the official release on this, revealing you’ll need Android 2.2 in order to get it working – and see it on the Market.

/ September 21, 2010Not seeing it either. Wouldn’t it be embarrassing if it’s currently a US only release and it’s been reported on Eurodroid that prides itself on “smartphone news from not-America”.

more and more emails are becoming HTML version now a days and it would be really nice to have the ability to zoom in and out of them inside gmail
