A very long time ago indeed, we reported on the Orange network’s plans for a new Orange-branded Android smartphone it was referring to as Project JAL. It was to be a new, low-cost Android phone for the network, using what was eventually identified as the ZTE Blade as its base hardware.
Now, according to site Store-Orange, we know the phone will be known as the Orange San Francisco and will be arriving very soon.
The San Francisco specs listed by the site are much the same as those already known to be for the ZTE Blade, but we’ll keep an eye out for any hardware changes once Orange makes this official. With thanks to Store-Orange who provided the information on the Orange San Francisco.

/ September 16, 2010This specsheet for the ZTE Blade (this phone) was uploaded to pdadb some time back
With the decent sized capacitive touchscreen I thought it looked kinda cool. ZTE are a massive Chinese conglomerates looking to take a big slice of the world consumer tech market and as such are looking to make a big impression (but then who releases a product intending otherwise?)
I’m sure I read something somewhere about a quick processor (faster than the 600mhz ones turning up in the ZTE racer and the LG Optimus phones) and a decent battery in this thing – can’t find any reference to it anywhere now I look again
Maybe someone else can find this info

/ September 16, 2010wonder why they’re not putting froyo on it, as LG et al seem to be with their budget boxes
