It’s not the long-awaited release of FroYo for Wildfire , but it is something. HTC has said today’s new over-the-air Wildfire update fixes some Facebook app issues, “increases support” (?) for Google Talk and the Android Market and alters the handling of imported contacts.
Here’s the announcement:
“You can now download the latest software update for new features and improved performance. It won’t delete any of your content and we’d recommend using a Wi-Fi connection as this is a large update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. Any questions? Contact us via www.htc.com. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). The new Software number will be 1.25.405.1
Update Information: 1. Enhances support for Facebook status display when dialing; 2. Increases support for Google Services like Google Talk, Android Market and others; 3. Improves combining contacts from Outlook and other source
It’s made Jennifer happy, so it’s good enough for us. It looks like this ROM is currently already installed on new Wildfires, so it’ll only be prompting older handsets to update.

/ September 28, 2010Yes, and they say there is no plan to send any new firmware update to fix this.
hence only option is to send it back to service centre in the country where we bought the phone along with the receipt of purchase – at our cost both ways – and they would repair the phone!!!
what a shame

/ October 8, 2010The updates depend on your operator. If you don`t wanna depend on his updates, but be able to do updates release directly by HTC (or by 3dr parties), you need to debrand your phone.
