Nokia’s Niklas Savander recently took part in a massive Q&A session with his company’s fans – and quite a few “haters” – via Twitter, and the big Android question reared its head rather predictably.
As in, “Hey, Niklas, why don’t you dump those rubbish operating systems you use for Android?”
Here’s the Android excerpt from his web chat, complete with a nice “AMEN!” retweet from Niklas of a fan’s comment:
So that’s yet another “No” about Android being used by Nokia in the near future. We’ll ask you again in another six months or so, Niklas. Another couple of flop smartphone launches may change your mind…

/ August 5, 2010I had to turn my 5800 on to get a number off it, and it just felt so horrible compared to android.

You should stick to just reporting the facts and leave those condescending remarks for forum posters. And then bloggers complain that they’re not taken seriously as “journalists”…
You should be happy Nokia exists and let’s hope Meego will be successful, I wouldn’t want to leave in a world with an Android / iOS monopoly (and you wouldn’t like it either).

/ August 6, 2010Commercial suicide for Nokia. Things are slipping away from them VERY fast.
I can understand them sticking with Symbian, but trying to create “another” Android in the shape of Meego is just insane and stinks of stubbornness and arrogance.

/ August 6, 2010@markg 100% true, they losing money and are getting to be not relevant anymore, when was the last Nokia you were excited by? They could do a Samsung, put all phones on Droid and work on building up mego…. they are a business they should try make money and as proven with Motorola,Sony etc switching from symbian to Droid does this, but no they bleed $ and have yet to build a whole ecosystem and update it, hmmm experience , slow, it makes no sense if I owned shares in Nokia I would be really angry that they didn’t sack the off symbian OS completely for Android….

/ August 6, 2010i agree, commercial suicide its a shame since nokia used to be the phone everyone wanted, still, times they are a changing

/ August 7, 2010Hmm, then why are they running a research project within android monitoring how many people use an Android phone on a daily basis???

/ August 12, 2010I’ll never go Nokia again. I was a fan, and their arrogance got to me in the end.
They’re finished. With all the new releases coming out, even when they DO decide to go Android, it will take them a while to come anywhere close to current companies.
Huge mistake, already too late to fix and they think Meebo will save them. This is what happens when companies lose contact with customers needs.

/ August 12, 2010I used to love Nokia mobiles, but a couple of years ago my then new phone was in the pepair shop more often than it was on my ear. The symbian os kept on mucking up as well as the hardware. Then (because it was down to my provider) i could not get the updates which it turned out made the phone work properly. I could only get the most recent update if i bought a `Nokia` phone, not O2 or virgin etc. it seems nokia were leashing the rival providers.
Nokia please note, due to you producing a substandard phone with a substandard os which i was not allowed to update, I have switched to Sony Ericsson. My new SE phones have worked flawlessly for me and i will never get a Nokia EVER again. Oh, by the way i contacted Nokia loads of times to sort out my last ever `Nokia` phone and they pretty CRAP, they were reading off a card.
And lastly, my Brother got a new Nokia this year (2010) on contract, he had it for 3 months then sent it back to get a Sony Ericsson. Even he hated it.

/ August 12, 2010If Nokia did not concentrate so much on buying-out the competition, and stifling free enterprise (the free navigation system and navigon), and listened to their customers who buy their mobile phones i think `nokia` would go world class. At its current trend, i think Nokia will get bought out in the future and that will be the end of Nokia (It could not happen too soon to such a deserving company). R.I.P. Nokia.

/ August 12, 2010Nokia = Power hungry, arrogant, self motivated
As per Johns comment, right on! It couldnt happen to such a deserving company.

/ August 12, 2010Found this awaiting moderation on nokias website reference their new `Terminal Mode` in car satnavs.
“””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””
“”Terminal, yea. All my New Nokia phones have gone terminal.”
Ditto m8.
“Go buy anything else but a nokia.”
Totally agree !””
I think your comments will be removed, Nokia work that way.
And yes they do now make substandard Mobile Phones. And yes i dnt own a Nokia anymore, much prefere an more reliable SE.
You should check out some of the comments on the net. Nokia are getting slated by customers, most by inadequate phones and some because of the `free navigation system` that was available until nokia bought out navigon and shut it down because it was `free`.
But these comments are for the Terminal mode which does look good, i wonder if they will spread to other makes ?
“””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””
It seems all the other comments were removed but for the one under moderation.
LOL, Nokia are gettin desperate !
