Those nonsense reports of “trojans” on Android that have been circulating for the last few days have been nicely rubbished by security company McAfee, which has pointed out that the so-called Android virus is little more than “an old trick on a new platform.”
Not only that, McAfee hasn’t even found any evidence of its existence. And the user has to specifically install it:
“McAfee could not confirm that the application is in the wild or was ever available via the Android Market application store. The software does not self-propagate and requires that the user intentionally installs it upon the device from another external source”
It is, basically, a load of rubbish. The apparent “infected” Android file never hit the Android Market – and if you’re hanging around Russian forums downloading APK files you get what you deserve anyway.
