As well as telling us all about Voice Actions tonight, Google also announced the full public arrival of the much-talked-about Chrome to Phone app – a tool to push content from your desktop computer’s Chrome browser directly to your Android (2.2) phone.
“Say you’ve looked up an address or driving directions on your desktop. Clicking the extension icon in your browser will push the information to the Google Maps app on your phone. YouTube videos work the same way with the extension. You can also select a phone number on a web page and send it to the dialer on your phone. Selected text can also be automatically copied from your browser and sent to your Android clipboard for later viewing”
Hmmm. We’re not sold. Here’s the app in action. It’s not much to look at.
We’re not entirely sure what Chrome to Phone brings to the party that’s not already provided by a standalone Android phone, to be honest, but it sure looks clever. There’s a video of C2P in action over on Google’s Mobile blog.
