Facebook, which released a slightly enhanced version of its Android app yesterday, has been forced into making a rather embarrassing public apology – after the app was found to have a problem that hammers the battery.
Here’s the ADMISSION of FAILURE:
“Hi folks, a number of you have commented on seeing a battery drain on your device since installing the new Facebook for Android app. We have identified the bug that is causing this battery drain and are working on a fix now. As soon as the patch is ready, we will push out an update. Thanks for the quick feedback and for your patience as we get this fixed!”
…said the operator of the Facebook for Android Facebook page, which is currently FLOODED with less them complementary comments about the Android app.
So… either don’t go on Facebook or make sure you kill the app after use, else your battery will melt into oblivion even quicker than usual. And then what will you do when you need to tell someone which branch of Starbucks you’re currently in, eh? Link via Android Central.

/ August 6, 2010So are you going to bother reporting that it’s been fixed already, or like the bad old days of UKResistance, you want to cherrypick what suits your agenda…

/ August 8, 2010Does it still have the contact duplication issues? I installed it and tried the add Fb contacts to phone feature, checked it later and I had 8 copies of all my Fb friends in my address book. Not ideal… uninstalled.

I believe that’s what Foursquare is for.
