T-Mobile has today updated its customers (scroll down) on when they can expect the Android 2.2 update to arrive for owners of T-Mobile branded Desires – and the answer is “next month”. So while Vodafone users should get Android 2.2 on Monday, T-Mobile owners are being told/asked to wait until September.
Here’s a screencapture of the statement, in official T-Mobile red. Or is it pink?
With thanks to reader Tony for his dilligent research. For what it’s worth, we’re expecting O2 to operate on a similar timescale – although it might sneak its update out before the end of August. No idea what’s going on with Orange.

/ August 21, 2010According to the Orange Official Line it’s out around next week. How can one company have so many differing information streams?

/ August 20, 2010Absolute rubbish… Next month could mean the first, 30th or any date in between.
Why are T-Mobile UK always so content with being last? Do the T-Mobile customers in Germany have to wait that long?

/ August 21, 2010Jeez, I’m glad when I got my Desire it came from The Carphone Whorehouse and despite being on T-Mobile was unlocked!!!
Just an excuse for carriers to fill the phone full of bloatware.
Anyhow, Tmobsters, Froyo Rocks!!! It’ll be worth the wait!

/ August 21, 2010Just wanna share my case… I’m using an unlocked Germany T-Mobile HTC Desire. After no clues from HTC support on when i can get the Froyo OTA update, I was simply had enuff and update it myself by downloading the official Froyo RUU. So simple and quick…. and now am already enjoying Froyo for more than 2 weeks :)

/ August 21, 2010I have the Orange branded desire and am fuming at orange as they havent even stated when the update is due. Besides, am not very happy with google/android for wanting to eliminate the OEM/Carrier bullcrap and just send updates straight to devices instead, this is one of the main reasons am going to jump shit WP7, atleast I wont have to worry about specific carrier/oem, their bloatware will be eliminated, Many Thanks Microsoft.

/ August 23, 2010I prefer waiting than having a not fully tested firmware, have read some issues those can prevent you to use your mobile after OTA, more test less problem.
