Some keen internet enthusiasts noticed that a download link (now dead) for the Android TweetDeck beta test was actually made live earlier today, which caused a little flurry of activity – before TweetDeck removed the Android app’s APK file it was hosting.
But that didn’t stop a whole heap of users getting their hands on it, with Dutch Android site Android World managing to get it up and running this afternoon. Here’s a couple of screencaptures we’ve just taken from this unintentionally released version:
This version of Android TweetDeck is only just about working on our 1.6 HTC Magic. Logging in via Facebook authentication is OK, but try to login with Twitter and it pops up a force close error. Hence we’ve only taken the two screenshots. That’s what happens when you run software you’re not supposed to have.
If you fancy seeing if this early version works on your Android phone, browse the comments over at Android World – there are a few links to the APK file.
UPDATE:
This is an “old build” as we already sort of guessed, and the official release is coming tomorrow says TD.
