Samsung Galaxy Europa will come with “Music Anywhere” via Carphone Warehouse

Music Anywhere is a new, cloud-based music “locker” system that’s being launched by Carphone Warehouse with help from Catch Media tomorrow, which will give users access to their home music collections through their phones.

The system, which costs £29.99 for a year’s subscription, scans your existing music collection and identifies it all – then lets you stream alternate versions of the tracks stored on network servers through your phone.

So you’re not uploading your music, you’re instead listening to alternate encodes. CPW and Catch claim to have six million tracks ready to go.

According to Mobile Magazine, Carphone Warehouse will be bundling a free Music Anywhere subscription with the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Europa when the service launches tomorrow.

The Galaxy Europa is a rather “entry level” smartphone the network will be carrying exclusively in the UK. CPW’s already selling it on deals starting at £15 per month

  1. I’ve been doing this with my new Desire using Subsonic:

It was dead simple to set up, the android application is really slick, and it saves stuff locally for offline playback.

The first month is free, then it is a minimum donation of ten Euros for a years service.

I now have all of my music whenever I am in wifi or 3G. All with album art and in a nice player interface. Love it.
