Dell Streak getting Android 2.2 “later this year”

Did many people buy the Dell Streak in the end? It seemed to all go rather quiet very quickly on that one, after all the initial excitement. At least Dell’s pushing ahead with the US release which is starting right now, and has confirmed plans to update the 5″ Android tablet’s OS – which will be upgraded to Android 2.2 by the end of the year.

But when your Streak arrives it’ll be down on 1.6 for now. Here’s what the Dell man said about Android 2.2 or “FroYo” for the tablet:

“Like I mentioned in my previous Dell Streak post, the Android 2.2 over the air update (Froyo) will come later this year. We will ship Dell Streak with Android 1.6″

And the impossible-to-categorise Android machine of which he speaks:

  2. It should get 2.2. I don’t think this could survive without Flash, but they need to get the release date straight. All this messing around is turning me off to actually purchasing this product.
