Shazam changes pricing structure – “unlimited” track tags for $4.99

Music recognition tool Shazam, which is definitely what you’d term a SURVIVOR in the tech world, has split its Android app in two – launching a “Freemium” version limited to five free song IDs a month, plus Shazam Encore, which delivers unlimited memory jogs for a $4.99 flat fee.

Shazam’s Android sub-site hasn’t been updated yet. So here’s what it looks like:

Frankly, we prefer spending a tortuous three weeks thinking and thinking and THINKING until we remember what the song was called ourselves (and it was the Ace of Base). Link via Android Guys.

so what they’re doing here is taking what used to be free and charging $5 for it, while crippling the free version to the point of uselessness? lovely.

Cue free alternative…people don’t like limits even if they dont go near them.
