VIDEO: Official HTC Android 2.2 “Froyo” update running on HTC Desire

Sorry to tease you all like this, but a leaked version of the official HTC ROM for the Desire has surfaced – and been installed by users over at hardcore development forum XDA. It’s not 100% finished, but does seem to work rather well.

Here’s the footage.

As you might expect of a leaked and slightly unfinished ROM, there are one or two problems – the phone apparently suffers from the odd random reboot, for example, when updated to Android 2.2. That’s the price you pay for living on the bleeding edge.

Video is of the allegedly leaked ROM that cropped up in Switzerland or where-ever it was.
The ROM itself,as far as I can tell, is not official it is a hack by one of the peeps at XDA. It’s a good hack but it’s not the official one claimed by the title.

  2. HTC Desire HD will probably get Android 2.2 before the original HTC Desire!

Considering my Desire is on Orange and is branded, the HTC Desire v9 will get Android 5.3 ‘Sorbet’ before Orange release FroYo to my handset!
At least with XDA, I can have a hack-up plan.
