STATS: Google updates its Android OS market share charts

Google has uploaded another pleasant green Platform Versions pie chart, illustrating the breakdown of the various versions of Android being used out there in the real world today. Android 2.2 is now showing on the breakdown for the first time, with a 1.8% share.

The stats, which cover the two weeks ending July 1st and are collated by counting connections to the Android Market, are as follows:

The previous market share figures had Android 2.1 on 50% of phones, so another three percent of users have either been upgraded or come onboard with new handsets – and that increase rather nicely matches the 3% drop in HTC Hero user share, which is down from last time’s 24.6%.
