The roll-out of Android 2.2 for the Nexus One has hit the UK today, with several readers pinging us with emails and tweets about the arrival of the next-gen Android on their phones. Not quite as exciting a day as the HTC Hero 2.1 launch party, but still rather great news if you’re in the Nexus One elite.
As ever, arrival of the through-the-networks update seems to be coming out in phases – unlocked and import model users are getting it first, while people connected via UK-seller Vodafone are being made to wait. And aren’t particularly happy about that, as you might expect…

/ July 2, 2010But what about those of use who bought our phone out of contract, but are on SIM only Voda? Will we have our update blocked in lieu of the Voda homegrown update? I’m going to leave my PAYG 3 SIM in for a while and see what haps.

/ July 2, 2010Why wait for OTA? Get a decent newsfeed for froyo updates direct download links. (Or ‘Checkin’.) Don’t think I’ve been more than moments behind the leaders and am now on FRF91 (after frf50, frf72, frf85b).

/ July 2, 2010My Nexus was purchased unlocked in February. I use my t-mobile sim and when I switched on to check emails about 15 minutes ago I received the OTA update automatically.

/ July 3, 2010I’m on Vodafone U.K. and got my Nexus One from a Store on a 24 month contract. 2 days ago I had an icon pop up on my phone saying 2.2 update available, so I clicked it, it disappeared and nothing happened. My phone still has 2.1 and tells me it is up to date! Can anyone explain this?

/ July 4, 2010I bought mine from the googlestore and I have a T-mobile sim. I got the update today, whereas my girlfriend got it yesterday. (She also has T-mobile sim)
Not much change but it feels slightly quicker.

/ July 10, 2010I have a nexus one a a 24 months contract from Vodafone, I am also still expecting this update, why is Vodafone treating their customers like $£@T? This is very unfair and disgusting.

/ July 11, 2010Vodafone are crap. When the update is release for the Nexus one it probably wont work. Worst Mobile company in the world by some margin. Getting close to rooting it and installing the unofficial version.

/ July 12, 2010I didn’t bother waiting anymore. Used this guide (http://bloginblack.de/2010/07/how-to-upgrade-your-vodafone-google-nexus-one-from-epf30-to-froyo-today/) and now have Froyo goodness. Phone is way speedier and from this point on will get any update that Google pushes OTA.
Been watching iPlayer on Wifi and it is good!
