OK, we’re starting to get confused by Samsung’s bizarre international product naming conventions again, so let’s try to get it all straightened out. Here’s what Samsung has just said it’s showing at CommunicAsia 2010:
“The complete portfolio includes the Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro bada based smartphones, the Android-powered Galaxy Beam, Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5, and the Windows Mobile 6.5-based Omnia Pro 4 and Omnia Pro 5″
(1). Now, the Galaxy Beam has been seen before in the guise of the GT-i8520.
(2). The Galaxy 3 is the one we believe to be the same as the Galaxy Apollo and is therefore also known as the i5801 now.
(3). And the Galaxy 5 is a new “entry level” Android phone that was shown off at Google I/O 2010 which Samsung also likes to call the i5500…
So, now we’ve got the hard part out of the way, let’s relax and enjoy a nice ACTION POSE of some of the actual handsets being shown off at CommunicAsia 2010 by Samsung’s hired help:
Plus Samsung also has the Galaxy S, of course. It doesn’t help that “Galaxy S” looks quite a bit like “Galaxy 5″ when you type it out. We’re now slightly less confused than 20 minutes ago, but still wish someone at Samsung would realise the importance of globalising its smartphone names.
