This is a bit “over our heads” but an interesting development nonetheless – according to Mobile Today, UK networks O2, Orange and Vodafone are coming together to launch a TV streaming trial.
Using apparently under-utilised existing parts of the 3G network spectrum and the new Integrated Mobile Broadcast protocol, the trial will launch in October 2010 – but only for certain users in London and Slough.
We’ll stop there, as we’re already well out of our comfort zone.
The trial will broadcast both live video and allow users to store downloaded video data on their phones. Read people who actually know what this means and how it works talking about it over at Mobile Today.
