Here’s another rather good reason to be excited about the possibly imminent arrival of Android 2.1 for the Euro-spec HTC Hero – it’s capable of running a modified version of the Flash 10.1 release.
Reader Mark told us the news, saying “Confirmed this on my rooted HTC Hero running the stock Taiwan 2.1 HTC release, and it does indeed report itself as running fully leaded Flash 10.1″.

And that’s a screenshot of Flash 10.1′s test running on Mark’s HTC Hero. Isn’t technology marvelous? We are literally standing at the dawn of a BRAVE NEW ERA. Only HTC’s software developers stand between us and the FUTURE.

/ June 21, 2010For reference, using Bubblemark, benchmarking Flash 10.1 using “Flex( Cached)” and 32 balls, I get between 3 – 5 FPS….

Not sure what this got when running HTC’s Flash Lite, or how it compares to the newer more powerful Android handsets. I do believe Bubblemark is quite CPU intensive thou.
