Don’t get too excited, though – Vodafone’s £25 per month Galaxy S tariff comes with an enormous £200 upfront fee for getting Samsung’s latest Android phone, plus there’s even a £150 one-off cost if you up your monthly payments to £30.
It’s not a cheap phone, basically. Here’s a look at the more affordable end of Vodafone UK’s Galaxy S tariffs, with the company saying the phone will be ready for delivery from “June 15″ if you order today:
At least the Galaxy S is being supplied with Vodafone’s larger 1GB data allowance, even on that cheapest £25 per month tariff, so you’ll at least be able to worry a little less about using your smartphone’s ‘smart’ features without racking up fees.
But you’ll get a better Galaxy S deal by ordering through a third-party retailer like Carphone Warehouse, where you can pick up a Galaxy S connected via Vodafone for, for example, “free” on a £30 per month tariff.
We’ll never understand how that works.

/ June 11, 2010I suspect the Carphone warehouse are offering the 8Gb verion which may explain the cheaper tariffs. Will try and confirm this today and post the info later.
Bryant
/ June 11, 2010Just called them and it seems the carphone warehouse is offering the 8Gb version only.

/ June 11, 2010Of course, you’re right, I’ve even mentioned that on here before. The 16GB Galaxy is a Vodafone exclusive, so you will only get 8GB with any third-party seller.

/ June 11, 2010If you order the phone online from Vodafone, you’ll only pay £30 as well, right? £35 per month – £5 per month when bought online
Lukigi
/ June 11, 2010Oh my, ordered it before 10am and its already out of stock :(
Bryant
/ June 12, 2010That’s strange, I managed to order mine online from Vodafone last night. I was assured twice that I would recieve it on the 15th….
dom
/ June 12, 2010I ordered it yesterday morning but didn’t get any information on when it will arrive (other than “soon”)
Gary C
/ June 12, 2010Hopefully they’ll have enough handsets to cover all your orders this time…
Bryant
/ June 14, 2010Just to update, I didn’t receive an e-mail today confirming delivery for tomorrow. However Vodafone did call me today and when I asked about the delivery date all they would say was that it would be soon. When pressed politely they then hung up on me. Not looking so good now…..
Gary C
/ June 14, 2010They hung up?!
Oh dear, looks like there might be another STOCK CRISIS on the way.
Bryant
/ June 14, 2010It certainly seems possible:-

I went as far as popping on the vodafone site just to see if I could order another one. I got as far as entering my personal details screen and at that point there was no out of stock message.
I certainly wasn’t happy at Vodafone for hanging up on me. That and the vodafone thread above have made me pause for thought about whether I should consider cancelling my order. For the moment I’ll wait and see…..
