Huawei launches first Huawei-branded phone – the G7002

Oh, this isn’t an Android phone, but it’s possibly of some interest nonetheless – as it marks the first time that Huawei has launched a mobile phone under its own name. Huawei is the unseen manufacturer of the rebranded T-Mobile Pulse and the upcoming Vodafone 845 Android phone, so this step into own-brand territory is quite a big moment in its history.

Although it’s a rather non-momentous phone – the Huawei G7002 is a sweet but unremarkable low-spec touchscreen job that’s launching via O2 UK very soon. It has a 1.3megapixel camera and will be cost a minuscule £40 on a pay-as-you-go contract. Say no more.

It is a little acorn at present. We’re drawn to and impressed by the battery life on the tech specs screen, though – up to 12.5 days standby time. Imagine that! Link via Mobile Magazine.

The “bones” are the very first six words of the update; “Oh, this isn’t an Android phone”.

Like he says, it’s just an interesting announcement if you’ve been following the emergence of Huawei as a hardware maker.
