Another superb niche Android product here, in the shape of Contact Lenses Reminder. It’s exactly that – a timetable that lets users stay on top of their daily lens quantity, keeping track of how many pairs you’ve got left and adjusting the total should you skip a day because your eyes hurt, or you can’t be bothered, or you won’t be doing anything today that requires proper focusing.
Here’s the app’s description:
“This app will tell you how much time left you have before throwing your contact lenses away. It will also send alerts when they need to be replaced. No more red eyes, dry eyes or infections because of wearing contact lenses for too long”
And the pics for you to squint at if you haven’t got yours in today:
We have to grudgingly admit that it might be of some use if you’re a regular wearer of “disposables” and in the habit of losing track of how many you have left. Niche, but possibly useful.

/ May 18, 2010I’m the developer for this app. I’d like to first thank you for the article on my app.
I would like to make a correction to the use of the app. I will confess that my screenshots are confusing (shows 1 day as frequency) and I will change them.
This app is not really meant for daily contact lenses, but more for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly contact lenses. Some people use their own schedule to change contact lenses. It is not meant to track how many contact lenses you have left, but how much time you have left before you start using another set of contact lenses.
I personally wear bi-monthly contact lenses (14 day frequency), and I had trouble remembering that I had to change them 14 days later. I used to write the date I which I put my new contact lenses on a piece of paper, but this is only helpful if you check the piece of paper. This app will alert you when it’s time to throw the contact lenses away.

Sorry for hurriedly glossing over the facts.
