MocoSpace, which we’d imagine is a mobile social network you’ve probably not really heard of, has announced the official launch of its Android chat app – which focuses simply on letting its 11 million (!) registered users instant message each other, on their phones, in real time.
It looks like the app itself was soft-launched on the Android Market a couple of weeks ago, as it’s already notched up an impressive 10000+ downloads according to user data on the app’s AndroidZoom page.

Leading mobile social networks in the U.S. focuses new app around chat, meeting biggest demand of its 11+ million-member community
Boston, MA – May 20, 2010 – MocoSpace, one of the largest mobile social networks with over 11 million registered users and 3 billion monthly pages, today officially announced the availability of its first mobile application built for Android devices. Mocospace’s Android app is designed around several popular features that are of most importance to its community, including finding friends, sharing photos, and chat.
Crucial to the creation of the MocoSpace app was the desire to stay in keeping with the simplicity of the MocoSpace site, which makes the app clean, sharp, and user-friendly. With chat and photos at the heart of the app, MocoSpace for Android deepens the mobile experience with:
· Live chat with friends currently on app or on mobile website
· Instant photo uploads
· Profile viewing and commenting
· Message notifications
The company recently reported in their Mobile Social Graph Report that the number of Android users accessing the MocoSpace mobile website had spiked by 40% over the past six months and is growing faster than other platforms such as iPhone and Blackberry.
MocoSpace CEO Justin Siegel believes the new app will become “the best chat application on Android” and follows up, “We’ve really listened to what our users want in developing this application. We know that our users love to communicate, so we’re committed to giving them the best mobile chat experience to help people stay connected and have fun on their phones.”
For a young, multicultural, on-the-go generation, MocoSpace is the mobile community of choice for making friends, having fun and staying connected. One of the largest and most active mobile web sites in the world, MocoSpace is free and available on any web-enabled mobile phone in the world.
