Google’s now showing off the all-new JIT compiler it’s sticking into its imminent FroYo Android 2.2 update, claiming – and showing in a live demo to back it up – that it offers a stunning performance increase of up to FIVE TIMES when running Android apps.
Also, Google’s claiming a 2-3 time increase of speed in the Android browser, thanks to new efficiencies.
Incredibly, it’s entirely compatible with all existing Android hardware. Hopefully there’ll be some sort of roll-out schedule for Android 2.2 announced shortly. Image via some random Twitter account.
And tethering is now official on a “platform level” allowing your Android phone to become a portable hotspot – And Google’s showing the feature off by tether an iPad to it! Classy.
