It appears HTC held a TOP SECRET preview event for its new Wildfire Android phone last week, inviting several mobile news sites (but not this one, sad smiley face) to have a play with the new Android 2.1 HTC Wildfire prior to today’s official announcement.
Here’s one of the many preview videos emerging today, courtesy of Mobileburn’s YouTube Channel, which gives us all a thorough look at the phone and its features. It’s a good job we weren’t invited – we’d never have been this thorough…
Incidentally, “Wildfire” was one of the names HTC put up for a public vote last month. We suspect those other names were therefore all deliberately rubbish, to ensure Wildfire won. A company like HTC doesn’t really name its phones based on what Facebook users say, you know. That’s all part of the modern consumerist illusion.

HTC’s 4.3″ dual-core Android model, powered by Qualcomm’s all-new S4 processor. It’s smaller than the enormous One X, but is it as nice as its bigger brother? (SPOILER: Yes it is).
HTC is very much B-A-C-K at the top of the Android world with this, its quad-core flagship for 2012. Great camera, huge 4.7″ display and Android 4.0 running beautifully well.
