You may remember we got rather excited about gvSIG Mini last week, thanks to it letting us browse UK Ordnance Survey maps for free on any Android phone. Sadly, the OS maps used by gvSIG weren’t the best on offer – which is where OS Atlas comes in.
We’re not sure what the correct mapping terminology is for the maps this app uses, but they are the maps we laymen refer to as the GOOD ONES. Ones that look like this, with hills and trees on:
The Android Market reviews say OS Atlas is a bit “feature light”, but if you think of it as nothing more than a complete Ordnance Survey map on your phone – and one you can search via post code, grid reference or latitude/longitude – it’s a bloody good buy for only £0.99.
