Another of the odd quirks that annoys POWER-users is set to be ended by a future Android update, with a loose-lipped Google developer saying Android will “soon” let users save downloaded apps to SD card, letting everyone free up a bit more memory on the phone itself.
At the moment, if you want to use your memory card to save Android apps, you need either a “rooted” phone or to download a custom tool (like appSaver or AppsInstaller) from the Android Market. But not for much longer – here’s how a Google coder sort-of announced the news in a long-running post about the issue on the Google Android support forum:
“Apologies, but I’m not permitted to disclose scheduling information – suffice to say it’s coming soon :)
“Sorry for being vague, and thank you for your continued patience – I sincerely appreciate it”

/ May 1, 2010On the last point. yes those apps will now be pretty redundant, but I have always seen the purpose of an app market is that third parties create something, and if enough people like it use it and express a demand for it, the feature then becomes standard (and a google designed and integrated feature would surely be better than a third party app)
