So as well as Three blaming the Icelandic apocalypse for delaying stock coming in from HTC’s Asian manufacturers, so too is Vodafone. Replying to a user’s query about HTC Legend stock queries on the Vodafone forum, the ban on flights into and out of Europe was once again fingered for the lack of supply of HTC phones.
Here’s what a Vodafone man said this morning:
“We are currently waiting on stock coming from the manufacturer which is HTC who are based outside of the UK and with the current situation with air traffic we don’t know when the next delivery will be”
And here, as the comment was left in a thread about the HTC Legend, is a photo of the Legend. For a change.
We’re a bit puzzled about the lack of love for the HTC Legend. It’s being offered as a stupendously cheap option through most operators – Vodafone’s £20-a-month deal still stands or you can get yourself 3000 (!) texts for £20 through Phones4U – and it’s a super-classy phone.
More pocketable than the Desire, the Legend is certainly the Android phone we’d be upgrading to now, were we not LOCKED DOWN in an oppressive contract from which there is NO ESCAPE.

/ April 20, 2010Hello,
I’m Tom from the eForum Team at Vodafone.
I just thought I’d pop on to let you know the comments in the thread linked above have been removed, as they weren’t correct. To clarify our situation:
– It’s business as usual for Vodafone.
– Our range of devices is proving incredibly popular.
– As always, we’re working hard with our suppliers to ensure that these great devices are in our customers hands as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Tom

/ April 20, 2010That’s a shame. “Volcano CRISIS” is much more interesting to write about than “business as usual”.
Thanks for that, Tom.

/ April 28, 2010It’s not business as usual! My HTC Desire has still not arrived, with Vodafone blaming delivery of stock problems because of the volcano!
My original order had a two day delivery windows, which was then put back to 7 – 10 days.. I’ve currently been waiting for 7 days so three days away from a complaint!
*sigh*

/ April 28, 2010I’m with OMallezo! How can you say it is business as usual when we’re being told it is because of the Volcano – and I’ve been waiting for about 2 weeks now. Overdue a complaint I think! O2 are looking very tempting right now!

/ May 4, 2010I’ve been waiting since 21st April for my HTC Desire through Vodafone
I foolishly agreed to negotiate a new contract with Vodafone instead of leaving them as I had originally intended… more fool me! I see on some web forums that Vodafone are giving a free 16Gb memory card for people waiting over their 10 working days limit. Claim it !
