BAD NEWS: iPhone beats Android 2:1 in MocoSpace future buyers Social Graph

That infernal vanity case pedaled by Steve Jobs (the iPhone) is still winning in the next-gen smartphone mind-war, according to a survey of future ‘feature’ phone upgraders carried out on behalf of mobile social network MocoSpace.

Of all the users that are planning on upgrading their mobile phones during 2010 to an Android or iPhone model, a shameful 50% said iPhone – with only 23% currently planning on going for an Android phone.

But it’s not all bad news – if we win over that undecided 27% we can still draw level…

In more positive news for Android, MocoSpace found that traffic on its network from Android devices grew by a massive 39.9% during Q1 of 2010, which you could easily get away with rounding up to 40% to make it sound even more impressive still.

30% of Feature Phone Users Looking to Upgrade to Smartphones; Prefer iPhone 2:1 vs. Android

Boston, MA – April 29, 2010 – MocoSpace, the largest mobile social network in the U.S., is releasing its first Mobile Social Graph, a new quarterly report highlighting how consumer behaviors are shifting from the web to the mobile phone. The report highlights data on how user habits differ on various device types, including PCs, traditional feature phones, and Android and iPhones.

Key findings of the MocoSpace Mobile Social Graph:

· Android phone traffic increased 39.9% in Q1

· 30% of traditional feature phone users plan to purchase a smartphone in 2010

· iPhone is 2 times more attractive than Android for potential smartphone buyers

· Traditional feature phone usage decreased by 22%

· iPhone/Android sessions are 27.8% longer than feature phone sessions

· Mobile users log-in almost twice as often as PC users

· iPhone/Android users are 72% more likely to buy virtual currency than feature phone users

    And marketing by the OpenHandset Alliance i needs to be stepped up.

    I want to see Android brand (and Android robot logo) on EVERY handset and product that uses Android. Most customers don’t even know what Android is…
