The HTC Desire STOCK CRISIS that is still GRIPPING THE NATION and seeing children and old ladies SOBBING in the STREETS, unable to get their hands on a Desire, is seeing another case of price raising from the operators – this time from retailer Phones4U and Orange.
A couple of weeks back, Phones4U was doing a Desire on an Orange connection for £25 on an 18 month contract – now it’s stuck it up to £27.50 per month and you have to sign up for the full, oppressive 24 month term with NO POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE.
The old 18-month package is on the left, the new 24-month “deal” on to the right:
That is now P4U’s new cheapest monthly tariff, and takes the cost of a Desire over the lifetime of the contract up from a reasonable £450 to a total of £660 – quite the difference, even though you do now get twice the number of minutes.
You also get “unlimited” internet with that Orange Panther package, though, so… perhaps it’s not so bad after all if you’re a seriously heavy web user and Orange owes you a favour.
