REPORT: HTC adding 1080p recording to its 2011 phones, also planning Android tablet

According to a report on a site identifying itself as Phone Report, HTC’s South African MD Quinton Leigh came out with a huge shopping list of next-gen features the smartphone giant is planning to add to its forthcoming models.

There are three future hardware innovations he pinpointed while addressing attendees at the South African launch of the HTC Legend, Desire and Smart:

- 1080p video recording in HTC handsets by Q2 2011

- 5.1 mobile surround sound tech created by Yamaha

- Hints of an Android-powered tablet

Sadly, that’s all we have. We thought there’d be more MEAT to this story when we started writing it, seeing as there’s a whole heap of words over on Phone Report’s page, but that’s it. HTC might be planning an Android tablet. That’s what got us excited.

Here’s an entirely unrelated photo from the HTC back catalogue:

That’s the HTC Touch Cruise. HTC didn’t always have the special touch.

  1. 1080p video recording and 5.1 mobile surround sound – this should become the standard for all major smartphone makers, including Apple and Nokia.
