Sony Ericsson X10 discounting begins – Play chops £30 of its RRP

And so it begins. The quest to shift the poor old Xperia X10 in the face of the HTC Desire ONSLAUGHT is now underway, with famed online retailer Play.com knocking thirty quid off the price of a SIM-free and unlocked X10 – down from the £489 the enormous and fancy smartphone was a few of weeks ago.

Here’s the visual proof:

Obviously it’s nice that it’s a little cheaper, and you DO get a seriously large amount of phone for your money with the SE X10, but £459 is still rather expensive for an Android phone that’s currently limited to Android 1.6 and doesn’t say “HTC” on the case.

Why on earth would you buy a 1.6 phone when 2.1 is the awesome.

X10 is a quite good device in its own right and like Hero users we await the Eclair update.

  3. I think the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is a really great phone, even with Android 1.6, but I am really looking forward to Android 2.1 and Multitouch, as the X10 will be awesome then.
