Now this is quite something else. If you’re in the UK, visiting this oddly-named web site should popup your nearest bus stop, complete with upcoming departure times – and a lovely Google Maps image of your stop from above, so you can get a feel for where you are.
We have no idea who made it or how it works – but feel free to give it a go.
If you type the domain address in on your Android phone (which is quite a challenge!) it should work while you’re out and about, as long as you’re broadcasting your geo-location data.
Heads-up provided by a poster we assume to be the maker over on the T-Mobile Forums, who says it’s currently “beta” but “should work just fine”.

/ April 13, 2010must have been some Polish dev since “wszystko jasne” is a Polish phrase and can be roughly translated to “all clear”.
Nice idea but in current form does not make too much sense. Circumstances in which you would wonder where and when will a nearest bus take you are rather rare. Usually you have a specific destination in mind and wonder where the nearest bus stop is…I guess.

/ April 15, 2010Hi thanks for this post.
@PK Good guess about the nationality :D
The tool was intended as a fix for traveline.mobi, a website that displays departures from a given bus stop. The problem with that is that you have to type in the stop code.
My tool takes geo coordinates and converts those into bus stop code. This is then forwarded to traveline.mobi, and results are displayed in an iframe.
Geo aware journey planner, while brilliant, would be a pain to develop without access to bus route data. There is allways http://www.transportdirect.info/Web2/JourneyPlanning/JourneyPlannerInput.aspx?DoorToDoor=true
