We have a bit of hardcore business news for you now, in the shape of a Wall Street Journal report into the $750m buyout of AdMob that Google has been planning for some time.
Citing “people familiar with the matter” the WSJ says the US Federal Trade Commission is currently gearing up to launch a full anti-trust investigation into the purchase of one massive advertisement provider by… another even more massive advertisement provider.
The FTC has already briefed congress on the matter, apparently, also sending out feelers to AdMob’s competitors who may be forced into testifying in any future case. This might be BIG NEWS very soon, basically.
There’s a bit more high-brow analysis into this development over at Wired today. We’re not going to risk offering an opinion, as this sort of top-level business news is way over our heads. We’ll leave the analysis to the men in suits, not the bloggers still in pyjamas.
