Amazon also delays its SIM-free HTC Desire shipments – now due April 14

Oh dear, following yesterday’s update from Clove about HTC’s unfortunate delaying of all SIM-free HTC Desire packages, we now have additional confirmation from Amazon – which has shifted its launch date of the unlocked Desire back to April 14.

Look, here’s a screencapture as proof:

Elsewhere in SIM-free HTC Desire land, Expansys is promising delivery “in five working days” while Play.com is now aiming to ship the Desire on April 16. The launch of the phone is going backwards everywhere, basically, unless you’re paying the big money to an operator for a contract.

I placed an order this morning at mobilefun for the Desire when it was showing in stock. Now it says stock due in 2-3 days!!!! I doubt they had stock in the first place. I’ve tried calling but gave up after being on hold for 10 minutes plus.

I’ve just had an email from Clove.co.uk to tell me that my Desire has been shipped. They unexpectingly received a shipment from HTC today. I called to confirm and it’s true. When I asked why all the confusion over shipment dates he told me there was lots of politics going on behind the scene between the e-tailers and HTC!!!! Can’t wait to get my hands on it tomorrow!

Ha, well done! Lots of politics and also sobbing, tears, fights, legal threats and more going on behind the scenes too, I’d imagine.
