And so, Europe continues to fall to Motorola, as it today air-drops its Android 2.1 update over Italy. The OTA version sent out through local networks will follow soon, in the meantime Italian users can get the MILESTONE’s 2.1 update direct from Motorola’s support site.
Here’s how Motorola broke news of the Italian push on its Facebook page:
“Good news for all our Italian Milestone users – your 2.1 upgrade begins today!
“Giving you lots of great new features including Facebook app support and multi-touch enhancement, the update is available now via PC download from http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/support/update/ and will be followed by an over-the-air version later this month. Watch this space for upgrade news for other countries!
Here’s a stock image of the MILESTONE as viewed from the starboard orientation.
The comments beneath the announcement aren’t particularly grateful, mind you – it’s mainly UK owners complaining about being left until last, DEXT owners wondering when they’re going to get an OS update, generally feeling left out Mac owners, users on networks not covered and people mentioning the few bugs that exist in Motorola’s 2.1 build.
No one’s ever happy any more, basically, and the MILESTONE’s been a bit of a mess in Europe.
