REPORT: HTC Desire "delayed" due to "software glitch"

A report on the web site of UK newspaper Metro is claiming that T-Mobile has had to delay the launch of its HTC Desire bundle , due to the discovery of an unspecified “software glitch” in the Android phone.

We’re in no position to question the newsgathering skills of the Metro reporter, who claims the reports come from “multiple sources” and goes on to claim HTC is refusing to ship the phone to retailers until this mystery bug is fixed. Proper news, or the Metro playing Keyword Bingo?

Here, read it with your own eyes and see what you make of Metro’s claim, which, incidentally, seems to be based around these angry comments on T-Mobile’s UK user forum today, from users still awaiting the arrival of their Desires.

htc desire t-mobile delay

T-Mobile has been at the forefront in offering the HTC Desire to UK shoppers, serving it up for pre-order and boasting of the Desire’s March 26 launch long before any other UK network. We suspect there will be much T-Mobile representative metaphorical blood spilled on the internet if poor old T-Mo is forced into an embarrassing delay this late in the day.

I just had a word with handtec.co.uk and they claim that HTC have delayed until the 7th April in order to ship large orders to resellers all at once and maximise sales – not due to software issues. This could change however, for better or for worse.
