Win CASH MONEY with new Android game Vacuum

Arriving in fully-fledged form on the Android Market today after a period of beta testing, new Android game Vacuum, by developer Door-6, is offering cash prizes to its finest players.

Starting from April 1st when the first round of cash prize playing kicks off, the winner will receive a share of $500 from the game’s $1.99 asking price when the first contest finishes at the end of May. That sounds like a proper BUSINESS MODEL!

Here’s the official wording from the game’s fresh new Market listing:

“Navigate through a perilous, asteroid-filled obstacle course, and compete for the top score and cash prizes! The first contest runs April 1 to May 31 and features prizes of $500, $250, and $100 (USD) for the top three competitors!

Vacuum Launched, Cash Prizes Ready

MADISON, WI – March 22, 2010 – Door 6 is proud to announce that Vacuum is available in the Android Market. Android gamers now have to strap into the pilot’s seat and prepare for the upcoming competition. Starting April 1st players will begin competing for cold hard cash. The top three players on the high scores board will receive $500, $250, and $100 (USD). You can’t win if you don’t play, so get in the cockpit and enjoy Vacuum.

Vacuum is the successor to the acclaimed, “Atmosphere: The Training Mission”, a finalist in Google’s Android Developer Challenge 2. The game blends classic arcade action with a dynamic 3D environment. Players must navigate a perilous, asteroid-filled obstacle course using the phone like a joystick, maneuvering to collect targets throughout the course.

A multi-language update to Vacuum will be made available soon.

Vacuum is the latest release from game development studio Door-6. Founded in 2009 and based in Madison, Wisconsin, Door-6 focuses on delivering premium software to smartphone users. Development began initially on Google’s Android mobile operating system, but has grown to include others. Look for the great mobile games of tomorrow to come from Door-6.

That date does rouse suspicions, but I’m pretty sure the “rules” of April Fools say you’re not allowed to announce your April Fool jokes this far in advance. Plus, of course, charging $1.99 for something subsequently revealed as a “joke” would land them in enormous trouble.

    VERDICT: Not a joke.
