The Android march is ON! Stats gathered by web advertising company AdMod, which was recently bought by Google, show that Android boosted its share of the smartphone online ad world by 20% between October and November.
Look, they made up a pie chart illustrating that Android now has over a quarter of the smartphone market, according to how many ads were served to Google phones during November.
So yes, Apple and iPhone are still way ahead of Android and the army of Android phone makers, but with a rapidly-increasing 27% of the portable market, Google’s mobile OS is making up ground fast.
Here’s the data sorted by mobile type. Looks like the Motorola DROID has done very, very well for itself in the US. And who’d have thought the good old HTC Magic would be more popular, globally, than the all-conquering HTC Hero?
The stats show the share of AdMod adverts served to differing operating systems and phones, so could be skewed slightly by over-enthusiastic Android Market users hammering the service and generating more ad requests than iPhone users. But they do give us a good ‘ballpark’ of how things are going. Data via Venturebeat.
